Our BP-111-RS laboratory microwave is designed and built primarily for sample tissue preparation for microscopy and biological processing (including In Situ Hybridization (FISH)) but it can also be used for other laboratory heating applications requiring excellent power and process control. This microwave uses our True-To-Power™ power control system for precise power control.

While the BP-111-RS is physically similar to the BP-111, the process control is different. The BP-111-RS allows the user to set the power level using a power control knob, a maximum sample temperature and the process time using a digital timer. The power level, the process time can be changed before or during the process. While this microwave has a less automated method of process control then the BP-111, it allows for more versatile as different types of samples can be processed in the microwave.

Operation is simple, you set your desired power level using a power control knob, set your process time using a programmable digital timer, and then you set a maximum temperature on the temperature controller. This makes sure the sample temperature does not exceed your maximum process temperature by turning off the microwave until the sample temperature begins to cool at which time the microwave comes back on and thus the microwave keeps the sample at or slightly below the desired process temperature. The power level, temperature and time can be adjusted during the processing allowing versatility and the ability to adapt during processing. Nominal values
Output power | 1000 microwave watts |
Required power | 120 volt, 60 Hz. Dedicated 20-amp line |
Input power | 1,000 watts maximum infinitely variable adjusted manually. |
Temperature probe | Standard type K shielded probe. Connection by connector requires no tools for replacement |
Process control | Semi-Automated |
Dimensions | Outer 20.125” w x 15” d x 12” h nominal (W/O handle) Cavity 13” w x 13” d x 8.06” h nominal |
Weight/Shipping weight | 50/55 pounds |
Operating frequency | 2.45 GHz (an internationally regulated ISM frequency) |
Cavity inlet air | Ducted directly from ambient (and relatively constant temperature) room air. This gives a consistent process environment. Many laboratory microwave ovens draw cavity air from the electronics housing; which can often be quite hot and inconsistent in temperature. High air temperature can adversely affect processing consistency. |
Cavity exhaust | Powered, 15 cfm. |
Cavity and housing material | Corrosion resistant stainless steel |
Electronics cooling | High volume for long life |
